NR&GC To Sponsor Bleeding Control Basics Course

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign intended to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes. Thus, it is critically important to quickly stop blood loss. Those nearest to someone with a bleeding injury can make a life-saving difference, if they are adequately trained to provide first care.

This “Stop the Bleed” course offers training in basic bleeding control techniques such as direct pressure, wound packing and tourniquet application. The course is appropriate for both the general public and healthcare providers. The class will be taught by Micki Quinn, a former member of Orleans Fire as an EMT, former MP with the US Army.
